ROBERT 'Chokonen' VAN FLEET

Occupation
Location
Interests
Walking the Red Road, living in two worlds. I have been studing and researching my heritage and the ways of my People as far back as I can remember. It was not a subject that my family would willingly talk about in the open. My mother told me repeatedly that WE were of Chiricahua decent. My father was Dutch & Irish, hence my last name of Van Fleet. Although I was raised as a White, using hindsight, I think that it was more to protect me from the fallout of the pedominant racial prejudices of the times, both form the Whites and from the Native American community. Sadly, I still felt the prejudices, as I did not "fit in" with the White kids, especially when they would see my sister or my mother, as they both were darker and my mother "spoke funny". But that was okay because it is not where my heart and spirit are, I am Native American, I am Chiricahua, I am Chokonen. My wife is Cherokee. Together we have been working very hard to learn and "walk" in the traditional ways of our peoples.

Healing Ceremony

Brother's and Sisters:

The healing ceremony in the Dragoons at Cochise Stronghold has been tenatively scheduled for JULY 20,21,22.  It will be a holy ground ceremony for healing.  We will be needing food donations for all the people  and donations for the singers who are from White Mountain and San Carlos.  If all goes well we should be utilizing the whole stronghold for our prayers. This will be all about prayers and boosting the Ndeh Alliance back up again.  No camera for picture taking will be allowed.  Plan to camp in the area. We will be checking with randy redhawk to see if we can utilize the ft sill acreage and also we will be talking with the Coronado National Forest as well.  We will need to plan for 3 days of food for everyone. Something that can be donated and not profitted off of.  So those traveling long distances please be prepared for intense Ndeh prayers and please come.  All Ndeh are welcome from all unrecognized and recognized tribes. These prayers are for all people for healing.  Also we plan to do a sweat as well for friday and saturday.
Please pass this on to the larger listings that i dont have to alliance members....
